For the opening exhibition of the second year Convent is pleased to present the solo project low fixed media show by Belgian artist Bart Stolle (°1974, Eeklo). The starting point for this exhibition is a series of drawings, which the artist has created on a daily basis a few years ago. On the one hand these small, minute works on paper give away a strong fascination for computer language, while on the other hand they show clear affinities with modernist art movements of the 20th century such as Suprematism or De Stijl.
Bart Stolle lives and works in Ghent. Under the title low fixed media show he’s working on a coherent oeuvre, which consists, next to drawings and paintings, of sound, sculptures and animation films.

On Sunday November 5 starting from 3.30 pm, a conversation between artist Bart Stolle and Martin Germann, senior curator of S.M.A.K. (Ghent), will take place in Convent.

Als openingstentoonstelling van het tweede jaar presenteert Convent het soloproject low fixed media show van de Belgische kunstenaar Bart Stolle (°1974, Eeklo). Het vertrekpunt van deze tentoonstelling is een reeks tekeningen die de kunstenaar enkele jaren geleden op dagelijkse basis heeft gecreëerd. De kleine, minutieuze werken op papier verraden enerzijds een sterke fascinatie voor computertaal, terwijl ze anderzijds duidelijke affiniteiten vertonen met 20ste-eeuwse modernistische kunststromingen, zoals het suprematisme of De Stijl.
Bart Stolle woont en werkt in Gent. Onder de noemer low fixed media show werkt hij aan een coherent oeuvre, dat zich naast tekeningen en schilderijen vertaalt in geluid, sculpturen en animatiefilms.

Op zondag 5 november om 15u30 zal er een gesprek tussen kunstenaar Bart Stolle en Martin Germann, senior curator van S.M.A.K., Gent, plaatsvinden in Convent.
