#8.0 Always bite the hand that feeds you: Eli Cortiñas

Convent presents Always Bite the Hand That Feeds You, a solo exhibition by Spanish artist Eli Cortiñas (°1979, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), who lives and works in Berlin. Central in the exhibition is the 3 channel video The Most Given of Givens (2016), in which Cortiñas explores the racist myth of the Tarzan film-saga and the representation of the African continent from a western perspective.

On the occasion of this exhibition, Convent organises a lecture performance by Eli Cortiñas on March 7, 2019, in collaboration with KASK-lectures. The lecture is free to attend and starts at 8 pm in Cirque (Campus Bijloke). More info

Convent toont Always Bite the Hand That Feeds You, een solotentoonstelling van de Spaanse kunstenares Eli Cortiñas (°1979, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), die woont en werkt in Berlijn. Centraal in de tentoonstelling staat de 3 channel video The Most Given of Givens (2016), waarin Cortiñas de racistische mythe van de Tarzan-filmsaga onderzoekt en de weergave van het Afrikaanse continent vanuit een westers perspectief aankaart.

Naar aanleiding van deze tentoonstelling organiseert Convent op 7 maart 2019 een lecture performance door Eli Cortiñas, in samenwerking met KASKlezingen. De lezing is gratis bij te wonen en start om 20u in Cirque (Campus Bijloke). Meer info
